UK and Travel: Where can we go for holiday?

Q&A: holiday rules for national lockdown restrictions – Which? News

After many long months spent in isolation and in your home, heading abroad is the perfect way to recharge and relax.

The novel coronavirus pandemic has transformed the once globe-trotting Brits to armchair travelers as the government looks to curb the spread of COVID-19 among its citizens.

While it seems that international travel is restricted from the UK, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn about the travel corridor and what it means for your itchy feet.

Go Groopie UK has several travel-related services available to offer discounted airfares and more. Read up with travel agencies reviews to find one that specialises in your destination of choice.

The British Government has given the go-ahead for overseas travel to certain “travel corridor” destinations. Those countries in Europe include Italy, France, Spain and Greece. Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, China, Canada, India and the USA are also included in this “travel corridor.”

They categorize travel destinations into a traffic light system: green means open for travel, amber means countries have high infection rates, and they restrict red categories for travel. For the green-listed destination countries, holidaymakers will need to complete a COVID-19 test and prove to be uninfected and won’t be subject to a quarantine period at their destination. For amber destinations, travellers would be required to complete a mandatory quarantine at their destination regardless of a negative COVID-19 test result, and would also be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine at home upon their return. As safety remains the priority for governments around the world, all travel destinations are subject to change overnight.

If you’d like to travel farther afield than Europe, there are 3 exciting holiday destinations to tempt you for a holiday:

1) Botswana:

Travelling to southern Africa for a safari-style holiday is appealing. The lure of the great outdoors, limited numbers of tourists, and wildlife aplenty, Botswana is a desirable destination. The Botswana government requires visitors to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test completed no more than 72 hours prior to arrival. There is no mandatory quarantine, either.

Game reserves, conservatories, and safaris await, as does the Big Five of the African wilderness.

2) Maldives:

The Maldives is an island nation in the Indian Ocean in south Asia. With white sand beaches, azure blue seas, and cocktails to sip, the Maldives is the sun-soaked holiday destination of your dreams. With the right travel agent, you can fly to this destination with one layover to minimise your risk of exposure.

As with Botswana, tourists must provide a negative COVID-19 test result no longer than 96 hours prior to landing. There is also no mandatory quarantine period.

3) Chile:

An exotic destination, adventure, and summer awaits tourists to Chile. This South American country requires its visitors to present a negative COVID-19 test result taken no longer than 72 hours before arrival. They require no quarantine period for tourists.

Book for smaller towns or coastal towns and avoid crowds, as you would back home. This friendly nation will offer you a memorable holiday.
